 Gillian Lloyd wanted to meet up with many of the people she’d met over the years; however like the rest of us, there are never enough days in a year. So she had an idea! Why not invite them all to lunch at the same time
This was the seed for “By Invitation Only” (BIO). The idea developed into a ladies only lunch, held usually on the first Saturday in March, to which guests attend “By Invitation Only”. A means of raising funds for an excellent cause whilst meeting up at the same time. The only other request made of the guests is that they endeavour to attend each year and bring a guest with them.

 Each year more than 44,000 women are diagnosed with breast cancer, that’s more than 100 women a day and more than 12,000 women who will die from this terrible disease.
More women are surviving breast cancer than ever before. Breast cancer survival rates have been improving for more than twenty years. In the 1970's around 5 out of 10 breast cancer patients survived beyond five years. Now it's 8 out of 10.
“By Invitation Only” is about to embark on its 10th year. At our first lunch, held in 2002, it was agreed that each guest would donate the same amount as the cost of the lunch, now a minimum of 50% of the cost of the invite plus additional funds raised by sale of merchandise and the raffle is donated. A cheque is personally donated on the day of the lunch to a representative of a breast cancer charity and whilst the emphasis has been on breast cancer, By Invitation Only as a whole, raises money for Cancer charities in general.
The success of the lunch has been overwhelming. In 2009, over 600 women sat down to lunch in March 2010 and raised thousands of pounds for Cancer causes.

 February 2009 saw the launch of our first ‘satellite BIO’ lunch in Bromley, followed shortly afterwards by Godstone, Jersey and another in New Zealand. Soon to be joined by our latest satellite in Cobham. All satellite lunches being facilitated by founder guests, inspired to develop BIO and raise greatly needed funds.
